Turkmenistan considers Georgia a key economic partner and aims to further strengthen bilateral cooperation, President Serdar Berdimuhamedow said during a joint briefing with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze. He noted that the two countries are committed to elevating their relations to a new level through expanded political and economic ties.
The Turkmen President highlighted the importance of increasing trade and developing business cooperation, noting that discussions during the Turkmenistan–Georgia Business Forum focused on ways to diversify economic links. He also emphasized the strategic role of the South Caucasus as a transit route connecting the Caspian and Black Sea regions.
According to Berdimuhamedow, Turkmenistan and Georgia are actively working on major transport corridors, including the Lapis Lazuli Corridor and the Caspian Sea–Black Sea transport route. He said serious negotiations are already underway on the efficient use of Caspian and Black Sea port infrastructure to bring mutual economic benefits.
The President also stressed the importance of expanding cooperation in energy, telecommunications, industry, construction, education, and culture. He noted that the visit coincides with the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries and expressed confidence that the agreements reached would further deepen bilateral ties.
