In 2024, the turnover of the gambling business in Georgia amounted to 76.1 billion GEL, which was 11.8 billion GEL more than in 2023. The increase was 11.4 billion GEL in 2023 compared to 2022.
The National Statistics Service reflects the turnover of enterprises engaged in gambling activities in turnover, which is determined by the sum of bets placed each time.
Until 2024, the turnover indicators of the gambling business were as follows:
2019 - 25.9 billion GEL;
2020 - 32.1 billion GEL;
2021 - 48.08 billion GEL;
2022 - 52.2 billion GEL;
2023 - 64.3 billion GEL.
In addition, according to preliminary data from Geostat, in 2024, 20,941 people were employed in the gambling business, and the average salary was 3,244 GEL.
Reminder, in 2023, the Georgian government decided to increase the taxation rate for the gambling sector, which has been in effect for more than 1.5 years. If previously the tax rate on the sector's profits was 10%, it increased to 15%, and the withdrawal of winnings by citizens was taxed at 5% instead of the 2% income tax. Despite the increase in regulations, statistics show that the turnover of this sector is growing.
