Georgia’s Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance has detained two individuals for the illegal use of a trademark and production of counterfeit alcoholic beverages.
According to the investigation, the suspects were producing large quantities of fake “Jack Daniel’s” products in order to obtain illegal income and storing the counterfeit goods in a warehouse belonging to one of the detainees.
During a search, law enforcement officers seized 300 bottles of counterfeit alcoholic beverages with an estimated value of GEL 22,400.
The investigation is ongoing under Article 196, Part 3, Subparagraph “g” of Georgia’s Criminal Code, which carries a prison sentence of three to five years.
