Two new companies, AWARD LLC and Newcons LLC, are joining the rehabilitation of Rustaveli Avenue, according to the minutes of the Tbilisi City Hall Tendering Commission meeting.
The companies will handle the rehabilitation of the sidewalks stretching from Chovelidze Street to the Rustaveli Metro Station.
City Hall announced the tenders for this work on August 14. AWARD LLC won the first tender with a bid of 3,650,000 GEL, while Newcons LLC won the second tender with 3,854,000 GEL.
The combined estimated value of both tenders was 7.8 million GEL, whereas the total winning bid price stands at 7.5 million GEL.Currently, Smart Solutions LLC is managing the primary rehabilitation of Rustaveli Avenue, with a mandate to complete work by November.
However, company director Levan Gogsadze told BMG back on July 29 that the project will likely not be completed within the initial 100-day deadline.
In parallel, Georgian Water and Power (GWP) is replacing the drinking water and sewage infrastructure along Rustaveli Avenue, an effort backed by a 12.5 million GEL investment.
Rehabilitation of Rustaveli Avenue officially began at midnight on July 23, resulting in a full traffic closure for all vehicle types along the avenue and a portion of Merab Kostava Street.According to Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze, all rehabilitation works are scheduled for completion by the end of November.
The winner of the primary 20 million GEL tenders for the Rustaveli Avenue rehabilitation was revealed earlier this month. Smart Solutions LLC was selected as the contractor as the sole participant, bidding 19,772,982 GEL against the original estimated cost of 19,954,650 GEL.
