The Samtskhe-Javakheti Forestry Service has uncovered two instances of illegal logging in the Bakuriani borough, where up to 10 cubic meters of coniferous timber were harvested unlawfully from state forests.
According to the National Forestry Agency, violation protocols have been issued, and the confiscated timber has been sent to the Tsagveri “business yard” for proper disposal.
“The legislation on illegal logging and timber transportation has been tightened. To prevent and punish violations, regional forestry patrols are conducted regularly, and appropriate sanctions are applied for any detected infractions,” said Kakha Tsertsvadze, Head of the National Forestry Agency.
