Ukraine on Thuersday imposed visa and financial sanctions on representatives of the Georgian Dream government and individuals close to the government. The sanctions list also includes Tbilisi Mayor and Secretary General of the Georgian Dream, Kakha Kaladze. Unlike other individuals, Kakha Kaladze has registered assets in Ukraine.
According to the property declaration of the Tbilisi Mayor, he owns two apartments in Kiev:
* Ukraine, Kiev, Victory Avenue 39, 220 sq.m. According to the declaration, Kaladze purchased the apartment in 1997 for USD 150,000;
* Ukraine, Kiev, Shevchenko Avenue 11, 250 sq.m. According to the declaration, Kaladze purchased the apartment in 2005 for USD 700,000.
* According to the property declaration, Kakha Kaladze received USD 600,000 in income from the sale of land in Ukraine, while the total cost of the contract was USD 2,000,000.
The financial sanctions include a freeze on Kaladze’s assets in Ukraine and a suspension of transactions.
