The Russia -Ukraine War caused price increase on grain and protein sources. In the light of current events, Ukraine, a major player of the sector cut off the global market, which led to a shortage of raw materials.
According to Natia Boroshvili, Procurement Manager of the Georgian animal feed company Nutrimax, negotiations are underway in alternative markets. The company is considering grain imports from Europe, but this involves large amount of money and the cost of raw materials can increase two or three folds.
"So far we are able to maintain prices. We try not to have a radical growth on the products," - said Boroshvili.
As she noted, expectations are pessimistic and do not expect the situation to stabilize in the coming months.
"Unfortunately, price increase is inevitable," she added.
As for the company’s exports, the representative of the company declares that relevant procedures are running steadily and the demand is growing.
Nutrimax produces animal feed from 2009. The annual production capacity of the company amounts to 35,000 tons. 60 % of Nutrimax products are sold in Georgia, while 40 % in Azerbaijan, Armenia and several African countries.
