The Central Election Commission reports, that the organized process of mass appeal of the decisions of the heads and members of precinct election commissions damages the election environment.
As CEC Spokesperson Natia Ioseliani stated at the briefing held in CEC today, the purpose of such an organized appeal is to continue baseless conversations about the bias of elected persons of election commissions and to harm the election process by artificially increasing the number of complaints.
"In the process of preparations for the parliamentary elections of October 26, 2024, the election administration's constant concern is to inform the voters correctly. In this regard, it is very important to talk about the threats and trends that have already been revealed in the actions taken by some political subjects. It is interesting that these actions exactly repeat the tactics used during the 2020 elections, which envisages using procedural means to damage the election administration and therefore the election environment.
This time, the matter concerns the organized process of mass appeal of the decisions made as a result of the completely transparent process of electing the heads and members of the precinct election commissions by one of the election subjects. Yesterday, on September 9, 15 complaints of almost the same content were submitted to the Central Election Commission, which differ from each other only in the names of districts and signatories. Obviously, the purpose of such an organized appeal is, on the one hand, to continue baseless conversations about the bias of the elected persons of the election commissions, which the election administration informed the public in advance, and on the other hand, by artificially increasing the number of complaints, to harm the election process and thereby undermine trust in the elections. Unfortunately, some political entities have chosen to discredit the election process in a calm and professional environment, and have chosen the election administration as their target. However, the election administration has done everything and will continue to do everything in the future to ensure that the October 26 elections are administered in accordance with the best international standards.
Obviously, we will consider all complaints in accordance with the law, but in the future we will continue to inform the voters and the involved parties about the challenges and trends that may damage the electoral process. We will remind all political entities that elections are a common affair and we all have a responsibility to conduct the process in a calm and professional environment, in such a way as to respect the best interests of the voters", Natia Ioseliani said.
