As of September 11, 2025, up to 24,000 tons of grapes have already been processed in the Kakheti region, the Ministry of Agriculture reported.
The harvest is currently being stored in Dedoplistskaro, Sighnaghi, Gurjaani, and Kvareli municipalities, with approximately 1,300 winegrowers having delivered grapes to wineries. The harvest in other municipalities will begin in stages once the grapes reach optimal conditions.
Of the processed grapes, up to 12,000 tons are Saperavi, 7,000 tons are Rkatsiteli, and the remainder consists of various other grape varieties.
The Harvest Coordination Headquarters has registered around 350 wine companies and cellars, with 110 already participating in grape collection and processing.
Notably, under this year’s government decision, the state enterprise LLC "Harvest Management Company" will purchase surplus grapes at differentiated prices:
- Saperavi grapes from Kakheti: 1.50 GEL per kg
- Other wine grape varieties allowed by law: 1.20 GEL per kg
- Substandard or damaged/diseased grapes: 1.00 GEL per kg
Subsidies to private wine companies in Kakheti will no longer be issued.
