In an interview with "Business Course," urbanist Ana Bibilashvili highlighted three ongoing or planned projects in Tbilisi that could cause major issues for the city. These include the Heroes Square and Laguna Vere skyscrapers, the Hipodromi development, and the Wagon Assembly Factory area.
1. Heroes Square and Laguna Vere Skyscrapers: Bibilashvili warns that planned high-rise buildings in this area, including near the Circus, could create irreversible urban planning flaws, disrupting transportation, culture, and ecology in a key city hub.
2. Hipodromi Development: The ongoing development and proposed skyscrapers around Hipodromi will increase traffic congestion and harm the area’s ecology, which has already suffered landscape damage.
3. Wagon Assembly Factory Area: Bibilashvili criticizes the proposed development in this area, claiming the existing transport infrastructure cannot support it and the transportation plans are unrealistic.
She argues that these projects could have long-lasting negative effects on Tbilisi's infrastructure and livability.
