The next summit of the United States and five Central Asian presidents, known as C5+1, will be held next month in New York.
Kazakh President Qasym-Zhomart Toqaev thanked U.S. President Joe Biden for inviting Central Asian leaders to the summit during talks in Astana on August 23 with the chair of the U.S. Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, Gary Peters (Democrat-Michigan).
Earlier reports said Biden had proposed the summit be held either on September 19 or 20 within the framework of the UN General Assembly.
The C5+1 diplomatic summit has been held several times since 2015, RFE/RL reports.
