The rehabilitation of Vake Park’s fountains and cascade system has started, with completion slated for spring 2027, Mayor Kakha Kaladze announced during Wednesday’s municipal government session.
The comprehensive restoration project will preserve the original visual design while upgrading critical infrastructure. Plans include installing energy-efficient lighting systems, completely renewing drainage, water supply and electrical networks, conducting waterproofing of pools and the cascade, and mounting specification-appropriate pumps.
The initial phase focuses on research and detailed engineering design, including thorough analysis of the existing fountains’ condition and engineering-geological surveys.
“A mandatory tender requirement stipulated that contractor companies or their employees must possess experience in fountain installation, rehabilitation and design within EU member states since January 1, 2020, per EN50110-1 standards.
Following the tragedy we experienced, it is important to involve European specialists in this project,” Kaladze added.
