The Vaziani Airport and 70,000-seat national stadium projects are not included in the capital projects annex of Georgia’s 2027 state budget, as was also the case in 2026. The projects were last included in the 2025 capital budget, which envisaged GEL 340 million in state spending on the new airport in 2025–2028.

The government plans to launch an international tender to select an investor for the airport, which it says is expected to open in 2031. The project will require an investment agreement, design and construction, aviation safety testing and staffing, as well as additional state investment in road and related infrastructure, customs and aviation security facilities.

Meanwhile, TAV Urban Georgia, which operates Tbilisi International Airport, is investing $150 million in expanding the existing airport. The upgraded airport is expected to serve passengers until the Vaziani facility becomes operational.

The 70,000-seat national stadium planned near the Kakheti Highway was also excluded from the 2026 and 2027 capital budgets. The government launched a GEL 876 million tender for the project in 2025 but later canceled it without selecting a winner. Despite this, land acquisition for the stadium continued in 2026, with several plots expropriated from private owners.
