Interest in Asian destinations is increasing, but many travelers are still postponing trip planning due to ongoing geopolitical risks, according to Via Travel founder Nino Namgaladze. Speaking on BMGTV’s Women’s Narrative, she said that uncertainty in the Middle East continues to influence travel behavior, with some tourists choosing to delay bookings until the situation stabilizes.
Namgaladze noted that while demand for Southeast Asian resorts remains strong, external risks have a direct impact on travel decisions. As a result, part of the market is currently cautious, even in cases where interest in the region is high.
At the same time, she said global aviation market changes are driving growing attention toward Asian destinations, particularly China. She highlighted Shanghai as one of the most active emerging routes, supported by new flight connections and rising demand.
According to Namgaladze, China Eastern Airlines will soon launch direct flights from Tbilisi to Shanghai using Airbus A330 aircraft, with round-trip fares expected to be around $700. She added that China is increasingly viewed as a high-quality tourism destination, although overall demand for Asia still remains below the level of traditional European markets.
