Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Vice Prime Minister Levan Davitashvili, along with Deputy Minister Mariam Kvrivishvili and Genadi Arveladze, met with Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the President of Dubai Civil Aviation and founder of Emirates Group, in Dubai.
The meeting focused on deepening cooperation in the aviation sector, exploring opportunities for scheduling more direct flights from Dubai to stimulate Georgia’s tourism and aviation industry.
The meeting highlighted the positive impact of Georgia’s simplified visa policy and visa-free travel for Georgian citizens to the United Arab Emirates. The discussion also touched on increasing investments from the Emirates in Georgia and opportunities for local companies to strengthen and expand the aviation business.
In 2023, over half a million passengers travelled from the UAE to Georgia, with four airlines operating 50 direct flights per week. The meeting emphasized the importance of continued active cooperation in enhancing aviation connections. Flydubai, Air Arabia, Air Arabia Abu Dhabi, and Wizz Air Abu Dhabi are among the airlines operating in this regard.
