"We have suspended the visa-free travel for diplomatic passports with Georgia, and the funds that were intended to support the government have been redirected to NGOs and civil society," stated Kaja Kallas, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, speaking to journalists in Brussels ahead of the Foreign Affairs Council meeting.
"Today, we will briefly discuss the issue of Georgia. We have suspended the visa-free regime for diplomatic passports and redirected funds, originally meant to support the government, to NGOs and civil society to support their mission. However, it is up to the Georgian people to act correctly," Kallas emphasized.
The EU Foreign Affairs Ministers are set to discuss Georgia’s situation today.
