According to the Central Bank of Armenia, as of the end of March 2024, the volume of loans from commercial banks reached AMD 5.099 trillion (approximately $12.5 billion).
Compared to the same period in 2023, the volume of loans increased by AMD 832 billion ($2.5 billion), which represents a 20% growth.
32.7% of the loans, or AMD 1.6 trillion (over $4 billion), were provided in foreign currency, which is 11% higher compared to the end of March last year.
67.3% of the loans, or AMD 3.434 trillion (over $9 billion), were provided in the national currency, which is 24.28% higher compared to the same period last year.
Mortgage loans for the purchase, repair, and construction of real estate amounted to AMD 1.112 trillion, increasing by 24% compared to 2023.
Consumer loans, including loans secured by gold and auto loans, reached AMD 1.159 trillion, which is 25% higher compared to the same period last year.
In November 2019, the lending rates on commercial bank operations were 12.28%, while deposit rates were 8.03%.
