Along with the rising inflation and food product prices, the situation of the consumer sector is additionally complicated by the increase in COVID indicators. Representatives of the sector believe that a specific mechanism should be developed to stop the spread of the virus without affecting business.
Restaurateur Tina Vashakidze told BMG that the sector is still expecting another lockdown, which makes the industry unstable.
"The sector is afraid that we will be closed again, we have this expectation, both restaurateurs, as well as business owners and staff. Today, when people come for an interview, the first question they have is: Will we get stuck? Consequently, the pandemic has made this field very unpredictable and employment in our field is no longer attractive. We are afraid and we have no plan. Only the business sector cannot do anything, there should be a joint strategy and, most importantly, help from the state, which was not during the previous closures and which caused a number of problems", says Tina Vashakidze.
To BMG's question, how the business plans to rearrange amid a lockdown, Tina Vashakidze answers that there is no plan, businesses will be closed and staff will leave the country.
"There is no way how to manage, the outlook is the same as in previous years. There is no other salvation in this business. What other developed countries have done, when the states helped businesses financially, this is probably the only way to save us. Otherwise, we will be closed and the staf will leave the country. In case of another closure, our field will go back at least 20 years", Vashakidze sai
