Economy Minister Levan Davitashvili declares, that the digitisation of the Georgian Lari would be an “important stage” for the development of financial services in the country, pointing out simplification, acceleration and cheapening of payment systems.
The Minister noted that at the conference involving the National Bank of Georgia, United States Agency for International Development’s Economic Security Programme and the World Bank.
According to Davitashvili, this will also simplify public services, more technology companies will enter Georgia and the country should be at the forefront of innovations with these changes.
Economy Ministry also stressed the importance of digital transformation for the country’s development and called digitisation of services “the future” and a “top priority” for the country.
"Many countries are trying to switch to digital currency, and the effort includes the National Bank of Georgia, but much work remains to be done because it is not an easy process,” Davitashvili added.
