We cannot work with authorities that are against everything we stand for - Sweden's PM

შვედეთის პრემიერი

Everything indicates that there were many violations, - Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristerson told the Swedish National News Agency.

"We have not received the final reports, but everything indicates that there were many violations, that these elections were not fair, and there were obvious violations in various forms. It is very disturbing that the Russian-influenced government is doing everything to stop serious rapprochement with Europe, which is the will of the people. There must be consequences for this. We cannot work with governments that are against everything we stand for," said Ulf Kristerson.

The Prime Minister of Sweden also responded to the statement of his Hungarian counterpart, Viktor Orbán, according to which the elections in Georgia were "free and democratic".

"He does not speak on behalf of European countries, he does not speak on behalf of Sweden, he may speak on behalf of Russia, but he does not speak on behalf of others," said the Swedish Prime Minister.

Ulf Christerson also recalled the elections held in Moldova, and according to him, "everything points to a large number of violations. Thus, the two countries are now in the middle of an ongoing war between Russian influence and European, democratic influence. I would say it's extremely ominous."

When asked whether he is worried that the situation in Georgia might become similar to Belarus, the Prime Minister of Sweden noted that Russia's ambition is to stop rapprochement with Europe.

"Yes, Russia's ambition is to stop rapprochement with Europe, and this has been going on for a very long time. It is not a war in traditional military forms, but a hybrid war against these countries, which makes it truly dangerous. "We talked to Zelenskyy yesterday and he says that what the new Russia is doing in Ukraine, it wants to do the same in Moldova and as soon as possible," said the Prime Minister of Sweden.
