We confirm that Georgia has made significant progress, however, more reforms are needed, - the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, said after the meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Ilia Darchiashvili, and discussed the historic opportunity of Georgia in terms of European integration and at the same time the need to strengthen democracy.
"We talked with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and discussed the historic opportunity regarding the European perspective of Georgia, which also requires strengthening of democracy. We confirm that Georgia has made significant progress, however, more reforms are needed, because at the end of the year, the issue of granting Georgia candidate status will be considered, and we called on Minister Darchiashvili to send a positive signal to member states in terms of fulfilling priority issues," Borrell said.
