We expect 5.4% economic growth by 2024, - Galt&Taggart economist Lasha Kavtaradze told TV-program "Business Morning".

According to him, earlier Galt&Taggart predicted economic growth of 5%, however, after Georgia received the status of a candidate country for the European Union, this scenario was revised and now they expect economic growth of 5.4%. As for the alternative scenario, it is optimistic and according to the economist, 6% growth is expected.

Speaking about inflation, Kavtaradze said that in 2024, Galt&Taggart expects it to be slightly higher than the target level - within 3.5%.

Regarding the exchange rate, the fact that foreign exchange inflows are high, the economist says that this will continue during 2024.

"This has an optimistic effect on the exchange rate of GEL, and the current exchange rate is within 2.7, in our base scenario, the same is expected throughout the year. As for the optimistic scenario, we expect a 6% growth of the economy, here we do not rule out that we have a slight strengthening of the lari if the foreign inflows accelerate even more in the background of improved sentiments. Tourism revenues will be higher than what we have in the base scenario. In the basic scenario, we predict about 4.5 billion income from tourism, while 4.8 billion in the optimistic scenario. This will have a positive effect on the exchange rate of lari", said Lasha Kavtaradze.
