As of the decision of the Government of Georgia, municipal transport will not operate throughout the country from 3 to 12 May.

Levan Karalashvili, director of Tbilisi Central told BM.GE, that shopping malls will continue operating on holidays, but they will have to transport employees with their own financial resources.

Levan Karalashvili noted that the private sector was expecting imposing of certain restrictions due to the current epidemiological situation, including suspension of municipal transport, but the positive thing was that trade facilities were not prohibited to work.

“We have to make a choice between the bad and the worst for the resent period. Restriction of municipal transport is a very negative factor for shopping centers, as it affects the financial performance of facilities operating in shopping centers. Employee transportation costs are grown, but the fact that we are not fully closed during this period is a good one. Shopping centers suffered a loss of 200 million GEL as a result of lockdowns, and the workload was reduced by about 40%. The load will be reduced in this case, but it is better than the full shutdown”, Levan Karalashvili said.
