Ia Tabagari, Chairperson of Georgian Tour Operators Association declares that travel companies are unable to start business relationships with their partners due to the lack of a specific action plan. She noted with BM.GE that tour operators tried to get involved in the development of the action plan several times, but in vain.
According to Tabagari, there is a demand from Turkey, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Poland, Czech Republic, Germany and Israel. Tourists are ready to come from those countries to Georgia.
"We do not have an action plan to receive tourists. When we ask where the action plan is, the state responds that intensive negotiations are underway with epidemiologists”, Tabagari declares.
Moreover, she notes that tour operators do not know the exact schedule how the restrictions on flights would be lifted.
“We do not know the flight schedule. What delays vaccinated tourists from coming here. We are left alone and waiting for how the positions will be distributed at the ministries and relevant agencies, when they will make decisions. Despite the changes, the state must follow the concrete plan, the population and business are asking for," said Ia Tabagari.
