Former Deputy Minister of Finance Leri Barnabishvili has stepped down from his position, the Ministry of Finance confirmed to bm.ge, noting that his resignation was submitted based on a personal statement.
Barnabishvili had served as Deputy Minister since March 2024, following a previous tenure in the same role between 2015 and 2020. Before that, he headed the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance and most recently led the Regional Relations Service in the Government Administration.
According to his latest asset declaration, filed on December 31, 2024, Barnabishvili owns four land plots in the village of Magharo, Sighnaghi Municipality, with a total area of 10,617 square meters. The declaration notes that most of these properties were inherited in 2009.
His wife owns a 153-square-meter apartment on Melikishvili Avenue in Tbilisi, purchased in 2021 for USD 143,162. Payments for the apartment began in 2014 under a pre-purchase agreement.
In addition, she owns a 2015 Lexus RX450h, purchased in March 2023 for USD 19,600.
Barnabishvili’s main income source in 2023 was his position in the Government Administration, where he earned a salary of GEL 77,632.
The declaration also lists two active bank loans—one for USD 50,000 and another for USD 25,000. His bank accounts show a balance of GEL 11,600 and EUR 450.
