Representatives of the business sector declare that their imported cargo is often found in the yellow corridor of customs control without any explanation.

The Distributors' Association notes that it has already become a harmful practice and companies have to seek funds to pay in the budget immediately for unknown reasons, otherwise they will not be able to bring the cargo into the country.

Iva Chkonia, head of the Association declares that finding funds in a short period of time is a heavy burden for the businesses, especially amid the pandemic.

Davit Chkheidze, the representative of The North Face in Georgia, says that getting cargo into the yellow corridors of customs control is quite problematic.

"I am a physicist myself and I understand mathematics and statistics very well, but I don’t know what is the algorithm, which puts 3 out of 4 imported cargo in the yellow corridor of customs control?! This has a very serious impact on the cash flow. In many cases we find ourselves in a very difficult financial situation,” said Davit Chkheidze.

The criteria for the yellow corridor of the customs control is confidential information. If the cargo avoids the yellow corridor and passes customs control, its owner can pay VAT within 5 days. Bm.ge asked the question to the Revenue Service why the imported cargo is frequently found in the yellow corridor, but the institution did not give the explanation until now.
