What we want Georgia to do is that Georgia, the territory of the country, Georgian companies should not be used for circumventing sanctions - and at the moment, we have no information that Georgia assists the circumvention of our sanctions, said Pawel Herczinsky, the Ambassador of the European Union to Georgia.
According to him, the European Union imposed the strictest sanctions on Russia in order to stop Russia's aggression against Ukraine.
"The European Union imposed the strictest sanctions on Russia. Our goal is to change Russia's behavior and ensure that Russia stops its aggression against Ukraine as soon as possible and that this terrible war ends. One element of our multilateral policy against Russia is sanctions. The agreement on the new package of sanctions is made by all 27 member states of the European Union, and we are also implementing it together with our international partners. I know that different countries contribute to this joint effort in different ways. Georgia has implemented some of our sanctions, but not all of them. What we want Georgia to do is that Georgia, the territory of Georgia, Georgian companies are not used for circumventing the sanctions, and at the moment, we have no opposite information. We don't have any information, evidence that Georgia is assisting circumvention of our sanctions," the Ambassador said.
