Commercial banks operating in Georgia have already submitted their financial results for the first two months of 2025 to the National Bank of Georgia.
According to the document, the total profit of 19 commercial banks amounted to 462 million GEL, which was 1.5 million GEL, or 0.3% more than in the same period of the previous year. 14 out of the 19 banks were profitable in January-February, while 5 ended the first two months with a loss.
As of the statistics, Bank of Georgia still takes the first place in terms of profit, which received a profit of 256 million GEL in January-February 2025. This amount has increased by 19.1 million, or 8%, compared to the same period of the previous year. TBC Bank is in second place in terms of profit with 172 million GEL, which is an annual increase of 2.6 million, or 1.6%. Liberty Bank takes third place with a profit of 18.4 million, which is an annual increase of 12.5%.
As for loss-making banks, the largest loss is recorded by VTB Bank, which operations have been significantly limited due to international sanctions imposed in February 2022. The bank lost 28 million GEL in January-February. Also, Pavebank with 57 thousand GEL, Hashbank with 1.4 million GEL, Pashabank with 1.5 million GEL and Silk Bank with 3.3 million GEL are at a loss.
