Georgia bought 477 thousand tons of oil and oil products worth USD 365 million from Russia in 8M24.
Despite Russia's ban on gasoline exports from March 1, Russia remains the number one oil importer to Georgia with a 41%-share. However, even though Georgia increased its oil purchase by 23%, the reduction of Russian oil products is 16% compared to last year.
In 8M2024, Georgia purchased 1.04 million tons of oil worth USD 881 million from abroad. The ban was reflected in the Georgian market in such a way that exports from Bulgaria, Azerbaijan and Turkey increased, as a result of which the oil supply market became more diversified this year.
