A new Eurobarometer survey reveals mixed attitudes within the EU towards Georgia’s potential accession to the European Union. According to a Eurobarometer poll, respondents in none of the 27 EU member states selected Georgia, Kosovo and Turkey as the most desirable potential new members of the EU.
The highest rates of favorability towards Georgia's accession are observed in Sweden (71%), Denmark (61%) and Latvia (62%).
The lowest rates are recorded in the Czech Republic, Austria (both 29%) and France (36%).
As for the overall figure, less than half of the population of the member states - 46% - support Georgia's accession to the EU, provided that the membership requirements are met, while 43% are against. At the national level, the analysis shows that at least 50% of respondents in 17 Member States support Georgia's accession to the European Union.

The Eurobarometer is a long-running series of public opinion surveys commissioned by the European Commission and other EU institutions. The latest edition was carried out between February and March 2025, with 26,319 respondents interviewed across all 27 EU member states in their national languages.
