Which Sectors Do Generate Most Of FDI In Georgia?

The foreign direct investments (FDI) in Georgia amounted to USD 351.8 million in Q2 2022, up 9.1% from the adjusted data for Q2 2021, - according to the preliminary data published by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

As of the report, the largest share of FDI was registered in the energy sector, reaching USD 76.6 million (21.8%) in Q2 2022, the real estate sector was the second with USD 75.6 million (21.5%), followed by the financial sector with USD 47.6 million (13.5%).

Major economic sectors by FDI in Q2 2022

• Energy - USD 77 million, an increase of 15% compared to the previous year;
• Real estate - USD 76 million, an increase of 181% compared to the previous year;
• Financial sector - USD 48 million, a decrease of 61% compared to the previous year;
• Manufacturing industry - USD 41 million, a decrease of 23% compared to the previous year;
• Construction - USD 27 million (- USD 10 million in the previous year);
• Transport - USD 13 million (- USD 18 million in the previous year);
• Hotels and restaurants - USD 11 million, (- USD 6 million in the previous year);
• Agriculture - USD 3 million (- USD 2 million in the previous year);
• Mining industry - USD 1 million (- USD 5 million in the previous year);
• Healthcare and social services - (- USD 1 million, while USD 4 million last year);
• Transport and communication - -USD6 million, -USD22 million in the previous year;
• Communications - -USD19 million, -USD4 million last year.
