A massive fire erupted at the Borjomi Railway Station market area in Tbilisi, with preliminary reports indicating it spread rapidly over an estimated 15,000 square meters, - according to Levan Museliani, head of the Tbilisi Fire and Rescue Forces.
The causes of the fire are still unknown. Due to the fire, it was necessary to evacuate patients from some of the nearby clinics.
According to the extract of the public register, the infrastructure of the station with an area of 8,200 square meters is the property of Georgian Railway. According to the Georgian Railway, they did not carry out passenger transfers from the station.
As of the public registry, since 2006, Georgian Railways has issued the mentioned real estate on a long-term - 49-year lease to the company Tbilisi Central, which also manages Tbilisi Central Station. The founder and owner of the company is GRDC Holding.
Tbilisi Central, in turn, has leased 2,066 square meters of the aforementioned real estate to the company “Bakani”, which in turn has leased this property to small traders. According to the business register, the director of “Bakani” and the owner of a 35% stake is Tornike Tsereteli. The company’s shareholders are also Khatuna Gigolashvili and Simoni Gvelesiani.
BMG is trying to find out to whom the remaining territory was leased.
