The Ministry is currently working on a 5-year decentralisation strategy and action plan.
The ministry continues to support highland settlements. In 2023, the Highland Settlements Development Fund provided 19.5 million GEL to 47 infrastructure projects across 30 municipalities.
The work is underway on the Smart Specialisation Platform (S3P) [which assists EU member states and regions in developing, implementing and reviewing their research and innovation strategies].
Speaking about infrastructure initiatives, he stated that 885 kindergartens will be rehabilitated. The first stage of the program aims to renovate 245 kindergartens. He stated that 142 out of 172 schools had already been refurbished, adding that a major programme is ongoing, with World Bank financing, to build and renovate 37 schools.
