Yerevan's City Hall has announced plans to introduce a unified ticketing system for public transportation in the Armenian capital. According to Deputy Mayor Suren Grigoryan, the new system will be operational by September 15 of this year.
In addition to unifying the payment system, city authorities are working on upgrading public transport infrastructure. Grigoryan noted that by the same date—September 15—a design for new bus stops will be developed.
These initiatives are part of a comprehensive reform of Yerevan's public transport system. The reform program includes several key aspects: updating the vehicle fleet, modernizing bus stops, creating a unified transport management system, and digitizing the entire city's transport system.
Recently, Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan announced that 171 new buses and 15 trolleybuses have already been dispatched from China to Yerevan.
Earlier, BMG reported that the Armenian capital intends to purchase around 250 electric buses for a community assembly point. Preparatory work is currently underway for the implementation of this project.
