The government considers the possibility of development of former Gonio Polygon into a sea resort, however, the territory has been nonfunctional for several years now and despite the interest shown by investors, no specific project or an investing company has been revealed so far.
The Gonio Polygon development concept and technical and economic research has been developed by international organization Colliers International. As BM.GE was told in the Ministry of Economy of Adjara, the Gonio investment potential shall be realized within the framework of the above research. Representatives of the Ministry state that the territory has the potential to develop into a high-end sea resort with corresponding tourist infrastructure. Investors show great interest towards Gonio, however, they say that no specific decision has been made so far.
