Hydro power plant will be constructed on Tbilisi Sea. The project belongs to Aqua Energy Georgia. The company applied to the Tbilisi City Hall for a construction permit, however, the company’s request was diverted to the Ministry of Economy, since according to the construction class defining characteristics and the function, the project belongs to the fifth class. Thus, all the three stages of permit issuance are within the competence of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development.
According to the project, it is planned to construct a 600 kw/h hydro power plant. Construction of a small Tbilisi Sea HPP is planned on the terrace on Tbilisi Reservoir north-east shore, in the vicinity of Varketili Settlement, on the territory adjacent to Zemo Samgoni Irrigation System main canal spillway. Construction will be completed and the plant will be put into operation within 18 month as from the moment of the project approval.
