Paata Imnadze, deputy head of the National Center for Disease Control, says there are no plans to impose strict restrictions or a "lockdown" in the country. He said this after the meeting of the Coordinating Council.

To the question, why is not the Coordinating Council imposing restrictions when the infection rate is so high? – Imnadze answered that citizens did not want restrictions for the last year.

Asked whether there would be any restrictions on the private sector, he explained that if businesses did not comply with existing regulations, they would be in a bad situation.

"I can say one thing about the business: it will no longer need restrictions, if it does not follow the existing regulations and does not vaccinate its employees, it will fall into a bad situation. Tourists are leaving Georgia infected with COVID-19 and there are many cases, including in Israel, Kuwait, Singapore ... We receive messages ... Can you imagine someone, who will recommend the same hotel to a new tourist? The regulations imposed today must be enforced and that will be enough," Imnadze said.
