The number of foreign tourists visiting Armenia in the first half of 2021 dropped to 239,263 from 307,590 who had visited the country in the same time span of 2020, according to the numbers, released by the National Statistical Committee (NSC).
The decline amounted to 22.2%, the NSC said. According to NSC, some 115,546 citizens travelled abroad in January-June 2021 as tourists, down from 274,435 in the same period in 2020, ARKA reports.
The NSC recalled that in April-June 2020 no foreign tourists arrived in the country due to the coronavirus pandemic.
According to statistics, in the first half of 2021, the number of domestic tourists in Armenia grew to 216,130 from 140,158 in January-June 2020. The growth was 54.2%.
