The External Merchandise Trade Up By 35%

In January-June 2022 the external merchandise trade (excluding non-declared trade) of Georgia amounted to USD 8.5 million, 35.4% higher to the same period of 2021. The exports equaled USD 2.6 million (35.6 percent higher), while the imports stood at USD 5. 9 million (35.3 percent higher). The negative trade balance was USD 3.4 million in January-June 2022 and its share in external trade turnover constituted 39.6%, - according to the preliminary data from the National StatisticsOffice of Georgia (Geostat).

In January-June 2022 the share of the top ten trading partners by exports in the total exports of Georgia amounted to 79.0 percent. The top partners were China (USD 400.0 million), Azerbaijan (USD 287.0 million) and Russia (USD 256.5 million).

In January-June 2022 the share of the top ten trading partners by imports in the total imports of Georgia amounted to 66.4 percent. The top partners were Turkey (USD 1 039.9 million), Russia (USD 705.7 million) and China (USD 522.5 million).

In January-June 2022 the share of the top ten trading partners in the total external trade turnover of Georgia amounted to 68.7 percent. The top trading partners were Turkey (USD 1 294.0 million), Russia (USD 962.2 million) and China (USD 922.5 million).

In January-June 2022 copper ores and concentrates reclaimed the first place in the list of top export items, equaling USD 533.1 million with 20.8 percent of total exports. The exports of ferroalloys totaled USD 301.6 million and their share in the total exports amounted to 11.8 percent. The motor cars exports occupied the third place standing at USD 269.3 million and constituting 10.5 percent of the total exports.
