Baku-Supsa Pipeline, one of the strategic objects in Georgia, does not operate from May.
Azerbaijan side took decision to reduce oil product shipments via Georgia in March and operation of Baku-Supsa pipeline actually stopped in April.
As BP, the operator company of Baku-Supsa pipeline declares the company does not yet know when the shipments will recover on this route.
"Azerbaijan International Operating Company AIOC decided to temporarily terminate Baku-Supsa pipeline. This is a preventive measure to avoid the potential threat during the operating of Baku-Supsa pipeline. This is related to the unavailability of the potential tankers, which the shipping companies face", - Press Service of BP declares.
Baku-Supsa Pipeline transported 0.4-0.5 million tons of oil before the Russia-Ukraine War, while this volume decreased to 0.2 million tons in March, in April - to 0.1 million and in May - 0.
Baku-Supsa Pipeline with a length of 830 km has been put in the operation from 1999. It transported 4.2 million tons of crude oil in 2021. The official name of the pipeline WREP, which is owned by international companies: BP (30.4%); SOCAR (25%); MOL (9.6%); INPEX (9.3%); Equinor (7.3%); ExxonMobil (6.8%); TPAO (5.7%); ITOCHU (3.6%); ONGC Videsh Limited (2.31%).
Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation received revenue of GEL 27.5 million from Banku-Supsa Pipeline in 2021.
