Georgia’s Revenue Service has revealed that 147 out of 589 inspected construction companies failed to fully comply with the mandatory “Register of Employed Persons”, leaving 566 employees unregistered.

The inspections, carried out in July 2025 by the Tax Monitoring Department, aimed to verify the accuracy of employment data submitted by businesses across the country.

“Violators were sanctioned under the Tax Code of Georgia,” the Revenue Service stated, warning that failure to register employees poses serious tax evasion risks.

The agency reminded employers that they are legally required to register employees in the system immediately after signing employment contracts, in line with Article 12 of the Tax Code.

The Revenue Service emphasized that it will continue strict monitoring of the register to ensure compliance and transparency in the labor market.
