The National Forestry Agency of Georgia has reported 364 cases of illegal logging and timber transportation across the country between January and July 2025.

According to the agency’s official statement, the illegally harvested timber, a total of 935 cubic meters, was seized and stored in the agency's designated “business yards”.

In addition to illegal logging, the agency also recorded 46 instances of the unlawful seizure of State Forest Fund lands during the same period.

The month of July alone saw 74 violations, including both illegal logging and unauthorized timber transport. Authorities confiscated up to 371 cubic meters of illegally cut wood of various types that month.

The report also highlights two separate cases in the Samtskhe-Javakheti region, where employees of the Akhalkalaki Forest Service were found to have arbitrarily seized parts of the State Forest Fund.

The National Forestry Agency continues to monitor and take legal measures to protect Georgia’s forests and natural resources.
