The National Forestry Agency reported that 510 cases of illegal logging have been detected across Georgia in the first ten months of 2025. During this period, the volume of illegally logged timber reached 1,350 cubic meters.
In addition, the agency identified 56 cases of arbitrary seizure of state forests. Of the illegal logging cases, 55 were detected recently, with approximately 150 cubic meters of timber stored in the agency’s “business yards.”
Illegal logging incidents were recorded in multiple regions: 16 in Imereti, 11 in Kvemo Kartli, 9 in Guria, 6 in Mtskheta-Mtianeti, 5 in Kakheti, 4 in Samtskhe-Javakheti, 3 in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, and 1 in Shida Kartli.
During the same period, two cases of unauthorized forest seizure occurred in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti and Kvemo Kartli, according to the agency’s statement.
