In April 2023, 5,729 enterprises were registered in Georgia, which was 16.9% less compared to the same period of the previous year. This is mentioned in the preliminary assessment of economic growth published today by the National Statistics Service.
As the head of the service, Gogita Todradze, noted at the briefing held in Geostat, the number of registered new enterprises is mainly due to the decrease in the number of foreign entrepreneurs.
"In April 2023, 5,700 new enterprises were registered in the country, which was a 17% decrease compared to the data of the same period of the previous year. It is also noted that the reduction is mainly due to the decrease in the registration of foreign entrepreneurs. This year, the number of enterprises created by foreign entrepreneurs has decreased by about 42% compared to the same month last year. This is the main reason that led to a decrease in the number of newly registered enterprises", Todradze said.
