Vano Goglidze, general director of "Kula" told bm.ge that 65% of their products are already exported, while at the beginning of last year, this figure stood at 50%.
According to Goglidze, along with the 15% increase in exports in 2023, the company entered 3 new exporting markets - Saudi Arabia, Moldova and Qatar.
"Last year, we added 3 exporting countries and now we sell our products in 30 markets. 65% of our production is exported, at the beginning of 2023 this figure was 50%. We already sell very little in Georgia. However, it is clear that we are not losing the local market either and we are trying to maintain our positions. First, the difficulty of the local market is the relationship with chain markets, which is a problem for all manufacturers and we have been talking about it for years. In addition, payments from Europe to the USA are made in USD and EUR, which is obviously more profitable for the company and the country," Vano Goglidze said.
When asked whether the company had to adjust prices in 2023, Goglidze says that the cost of products has increased, albeit slightly.
"In our case, prices have increased only because the price of raw materials has increased. This was the general trend. As in Europe, as well as in Georgia, the bad weather caused a shortage of crops and we increased the prices, albeit slightly, by 3-5%. I can say that along with the price increase, exporting volumes and products sold on the local market have also increased," Gogolidze told bm.ge.
"Kula" has been on the market since 2009. Currently, the company has 5 enterprises, of which 4 are located in Gori and 1 in Akhaltsikhe. "Kula" produces 250 types of canned products, which, in addition to the local market, are sold in 30 countries of the world.
