Kutaisi Davit Agmashenebeli International Airport will have a new runway, - according to the decree adopted by the Government of Georgia. The Ministry of Economy was instructed to take appropriate measures for the implementation of this project regarding the unification of airports.
A few days ago, the Union of Georgian Airports, which is the operator of the Kutaisi International Airport, announced the purchase of GEL 7.2 million, which is probably related to the construction of the runway, although it is indicated that the said purchase will be carried out under a secret contract.
Kutaisi International Airport ranks number one in Georgia with the growth rate of passenger flow, and it occupies the second position after Tbilisi International Airport. In 2023, the passenger flow of Kutaisi Airport increased by 109% and reached 1,671,198.
