On June 13, a meeting was held under the joint chairmanship of Arayik Harutyunyan, Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister of Armenia, and Vassilis Maragos, Head of the EU Delegation and Ambassador to Armenia. The meeting focused on the effective implementation of strategic communications within the framework of the Armenia-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA).
Press secretaries of state agencies, public relations specialists, and experts attended the event.
Arayik Harutyunyan emphasized the importance of strategic communications for national security and noted that the Armenian government has included this area in its agenda for public administration reforms. In recent years, significant work has been done to create an effective communication architecture with the participation of the EU, USAID, and civil society.
One of the key steps will be the establishment of a body for coordinating strategic communications, which will interact with state agencies to enhance the role of communications and ensure a smoother reform process. This body will focus on policy development, capacity building, and strategic planning to improve the communication capabilities of the state system.
EU Ambassador Vassilis Maragos highlighted the importance of this initiative and expressed confidence in the further strengthening of the partnership between the EU and Armenia. He also praised the Armenian government's efforts to develop strategic communications.
During the meeting, the implementation process of the new strategic communications architecture and the main tasks facing the Armenian government in this direction were discussed. Arayik Harutyunyan stressed that, despite the work already done, much remains to be achieved and highlighted the importance of involving communication specialists.
In conclusion, the Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister expressed gratitude to the EU Ambassador for supporting the development of strategic communication reforms.
