All about GSE New Director General's Asset Declaration

The Georgian State Electrosystem (GSE) has a new Director General — Davit Vardiashvili has been appointed to the position after serving as the company’s acting head for the past month.

According to Vardiashvili’s asset declaration submitted on January 21, 2026, he owns several properties and has savings held in cash.According to the declaration, Vardiashvili owns a 100% share of a 33.8-square-meter plot of land at 9 Mtskheta Street in Tbilisi.

He purchased the plot together with an apartment on July 6, 2006.At the same address, Vardiashvili owns a 35% share of an apartment, which he purchased for GEL 70,000 on February 25, 2019. The declaration states that the apartment originally had a living area of 73.18 square meters, but was renovated in 2007 and a mansard floor was added.

According to the document, the current living area is 200 square meters, although this additional space is not registered. The apartment also has a 20.61-square-meter basement. Tamar Tavberidze and Nino Javakhishvili are listed as co-owners.Vardiashvili also owns a 1,089-square-meter property with buildings in Tbilisi’s Kojori settlement, at 8 Giorgi Kachakhidze Street. He acquired a 100% share of the property as a gift on July 24, 2020.Among his movable assets, the declaration lists a 2011 Mercedes-Benz. The vehicle is owned by Vardiashvili’s wife, Eteri Chanukvadze. It was purchased for $12,000 on July 1, 2018.At the time the declaration was filed, Davit Vardiashvili had GEL 190 in his TBC Bank accounts and GEL 2 in his Bank of Georgia accounts.Eteri Chanukvadze had GEL 4,403 in her TBC Bank accounts and GEL 3,756 in her Bank of Georgia accounts.Vardiashvili also declared $75,000 and GEL 15,000 in cash. In both cases, the source of the funds was listed as savings.

### 2025 Income

According to the information provided in the declaration, Davit Vardiashvili held several public positions during 2025. As Director General of the Georgian Gas Transportation Company, where he worked from September 1 to December 31, 2025, Vardiashvili earned GEL 59,018.1.As Vice-Governor in the administration of the State Representative, where he worked from January 1 to July 7, he received GEL 27,539.3.

His income as Director of the Agency for Development of Educational and Scientific Infrastructure, where he worked from July 7 to September 1, amounted to GEL 12,655.66.From his work as an associate professor at Georgian Technical University between January 1 and September 1, Vardiashvili received GEL 4,707.94.

His wife, Eteri Chanukvadze, earned GEL 16,513.92 in 2025 from her work as a soloist and dancer with the Rustavi State Ensemble.The declaration contains no information on securities, participation in business activities, contracts worth more than GEL 10,000, or gifts worth more than GEL 500.

### Davit Vardiashvili Appointed Head of GSEM

inister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili introduced Davit Vardiashvili to employees of the Georgian State Electrosystem as the company’s new head.According to the Ministry of Economy, Vardiashvili has experience working in public service and state administration.

At various times, he served as Director General of the Georgian Gas Transportation Company, Director for Finance at the Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation, and a member of the Board of Managers/director at the Georgian State Electrosystem.

From 2022 to 2025, Vardiashvili served as First Deputy State Representative in the Samtskhe-Javakheti region, while in 2016–2017 he was Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs. According to the ministry, he also worked in the structures of the Revenue Service for 14 years.

According to GSE, Vano Zardiasvhili left the position of Director General at his own request. The minister thanked him for his service.Before being appointed head of GSE, Davit Vardiashvili served as Director General of the Georgian Gas Transportation Company from September through December 2025.
