A delegation from the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development (EFSD) discussed the implementation of socially significant grant projects in Armenia with the Ministry of Health on May 24.
According to the Ministry of Health's press service, ministry representatives highlighted the significant contribution of the EFSD in facilitating the stable functioning of Armenia's healthcare system.
The EFSD is financing a project in Armenia aimed at enhancing the healthcare system's preparedness to respond to infectious disease outbreaks. A grant of $3 million has been allocated for this purpose.
As part of the project, the branches of the "National Center for Disease Control and Prevention" in Artashat and Vagharshapat, as well as the construction of a new infectious disease center in Vanadzor, are being renovated. The Artashat facility is expected to be operational by summer 2024, and the Vagharshapat and Vanadzor facilities by 2024–2025.
EFSD grant programs aim to ensure equal access to social infrastructure and services, which is a crucial element of stability. The total amount of EFSD grant projects in Armenia is $6.2 million.
The Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development (EFSD) is a regional financial mechanism established in 2009 by Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan, with a volume of over $9 billion. The EFSD aims to promote economic and financial stability in its member states and support their sustainable development.
