Minister of territorial administration and Infrastructure Gnel Sanosyan stated that four villages, which Azerbaijan claims in Armenia's Tavush region, are not actually located within the administrative territory of the Republic of Armenia. The minister made this announcement during a conversation with journalists in the National Assembly of the country on March 13.

Sanosyan noted that in response to this demand, the Armenian side has also made claims against Azerbaijan regarding the territory of 31 Armenian villages under the control of the Azerbaijani side.

"The process of delimitation and demarcation of the border is being conducted to clearly define the border line between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Although the work is not yet complete, certain stages have already been completed, and there are maps showing specific data," the minister explained.

Sanosyan also pointed out that after the completion of the border delimitation process, some of Armenia's infrastructure may need to be relocated further into the country, as it is situated close to the border line.

"In some areas, Armenia's infrastructure is located near the border line. After the delimitation process is completed, it may be necessary to restore some infrastructure. This mainly concerns roads and other engineering communications," he emphasized.

The minister also noted that reconstruction work on infrastructure in these areas has not yet begun.

Another meeting of the commissions of Armenia and Azerbaijan on the delimitation and demarcation of the state border took place on March 7. It was reported that the parties exchanged views on delimitation issues and began to coordinate the draft Regulation on the joint activities of the Commission on issues of delimitation of the state border and border security.
